Efforts to bridge the digital divide in Europe got a boost last Friday as the European Commission proposed a long-term e-skills agenda.
The Commission is aiming to half the digital divide by 2010. Currently nearly 40pc of people in the EU are digitally illiterate and only 10pc of Europeans undertake lifelong learning.
